Anniversary of our wedding -
Cousin George & Cornelia came up with me yesterday in the
[Coach?] - Mrs Fellocos [?] & the Dudleys were on their way to Casy's Cottage at Newburgh - Grand St - We had tea as soon as we arrived - then drove at once to parade - it was a lovely evening but has [-ocered?] ever since- Letters from Patty Jones & Carey Ellicott - [May?] Hogan [?] and Annie - Grace & Jenny - [Gars?] Jenny has french dolly intended for her birthday present from me - she is delighted - Annie wants one 2
Expected William Isham [?] & wife - Storm must have prevented -
Friday June 12th
Very rainy still [?] our Cousins would have left in the afternoon
boat - Cornelia has just arrived - to spend the night.
Sunday June 14th
Went down in the boat yesterday with our visitors - Mr & Mrs Titus were on board - agreable [sic] people - fine looking - Mrs Fellows was also there - Saw Cousin Cornelia at the side walk & stopped at
Flora Isham's a moment before going to McLean's - did a dozen errands in the carriage before dinner at 2 1/2 - Mrs Viele was with us - We drove to the Park late - Charles Isham & wife came in the evening Today left before 8 in the boat - Met Mac[-]e on board - 3
Lovely morning - read all the papers I could find & then looked about for amusements - found Captain Bonaparte -handsome & agreable [sic]
No [ca----st]- on the dock - Sorry I had asked him to dri[--] up with us - [Kri----] brought us in his wagon & poor Bonaparte we left alone on the wharf with his trunk - All well at [ko---] The Macedonia Saranak [?] & Dale [?] arrived about an hour before us - with the Mid-Shipmen on a visit to the Cadets - Letter from Boales[?] of Springfield - sick in bed & cant come tomorrow - as intended - Ward Burnet is here to tea & will drive up to parade with us - fine looking boy 16 - [Bos-i--] (Sunia's [?] Sister) is here for a couple of days - I have invited her to share Legette's[?] bed - 4 Mrs Viele' seems hopelessly in love with Jen Heasanton - a dangerous position for a married woman - but it would be more so if she were prettier - Making an addition of a library & two chambers above [?] - be[ga--]
Monday June 15th - lovely morning - Uncle has gone - I feel tired & sleepy - Mr Forbes came home with me late last evening from Cozzens - At Boe's bach [?] a chat [illegible-crossed out] Jen and Mrs Grant - they are very composed and affable and happy - She has a pretty hand - her Sister was with her - Mrs [----body] - Fred seems quite a nice boy & the two younger children do very well - 5 Rosina (Emma's Sister) called yesterday & I invited her to stay here a couple of days - She has dressed my hair beautifully
Flora Isham has arrived - Letter from Henry Fernandis & Beckie [Brue--] - Written the latter [sic] & Mrs Eames -

The graduating Max Monday last was very well - We all went down the next morning in the boat - To the races in a terrible storm with Max McLean, Mr Penniman & Robert McKim - in a charming dog cart - in the evening to "Leon & Kelly's Minstrels" Next day to the races with the McLean's beautiful phaeton - 6 Came up Thursday with Ella - [-ace] the Middies parade - band much finer than ours - Friday young [Clas--] & Ward to bed [?] Went to the Hop on board the Squadron - treated with the greatest attention - Capt Mallheus [?] was introduced - Gillen & Franklin - Luce we already knew

And the fishes beginning to Sweat
And Damn it, how hot we shall be.

Yesterday Mr B dined at Cozzens with the West Point & Cozzen's officers We went over afterwards, the band played all the evening. Mr Pendleton has just called - Mr Knower - Booth & Thomson - the Sculptors - Raining has L - Jenny 9 years old today - have given her a french dolly - & Chape[?] Jems -Jane Kirby sent her a fan - I gave her also a bottle of cologne 7 Monday June 22d
Our friends left this morning with Mr B - At 5 we heard a great [fri---] & music - We were saluted by the Squadron - it had rained terribly - We rushed to the [S------cer] house & with Mr B's wrapper over my nightgown - having No [m---hoir] I pulled off my
stockings & [ec--ed] them - Mrs Michle & [Jar-et] - the cook & Kolish [?] - Miss McLean was in scarcely better costume but we saw two of the ships drift slowly by us - & friends on deck fluttering linen farewells to us - The Paranah had passed - the music had died away - through the silent damp we wended our way back to bed for an hour - 8 Have driven down the road with Ella - am sleepy still - Hack coachman has called wanting 30 dollars a month.
Tuesday June 23d 15 E 25th St Came in the afternoon boat yesterday - took tea at William Isham's with Judge Isham - William on crutches - had been thrown from his wagon a week ago - Called at Grays & Weed's - & dentist's - fine Morning, rained all the evening.
An hour with Mrs Hutchins - goes Saturday to Saratoga - to Europe in the fall - I wish my baby was as old as hers - Dr Hoffman has brought me a beautiful magnolia - 9 Sunday July 5th 1868
Monday last the Busdach's [?] came from Newburgh - hot tiresome day - they left in the evening boat. Tuesday Cornelia & Mrs White came left at 7 in the evening - The Grays took tea with us Sunday last -
all as ugly as [-res] - Thursday I went to town with Mr B - Eagle up to Weeds with Mrs Macanley - attended to a few errands - the heat intense - I remember Nothing like it in Paris - I had but few clothes on, & they were dripping wet even when sitting still
In the afternoon went out to Taylors with Mr Taylor & Captain Judkins - Next morning all over town again in the toasting sun Lunched & bathed at Flora's - brought up a laundress on the boat - a terrible crowd - 11

It has been fearfully hot - is still so - [illegible] 3 days 75 cts a day -Mrs Stewart - [?]eymous & Frank Blair [?]inated by the Democrats -

Sunday July 19th Went down with the Branens [?]Tuesday last - to Bailey's country place in the afternoon, pretty houses - & sip [?] as fine children as I ever saw - a happy family - Amelia looks young - but was never[?] pretty - Minsey [?] is a great tall sallors [?] American looking girl - [?oes] face [?] of the rosy face English type one sees here Wednesday I dined at Trimble's - Thursday the Brewer's went home - so did I - with Mary Black's Margaret & 12
a neer [?] Irishman Friday a Mrs Burvet [?] came to dinner & I left last evening - Aunt Jenny & the Farnandi's children also came Friday - Yesterday Mrs Garrison & the Walkers staid to tea - W B spent the day in town - expected young Edward but he did not come Still very hot - I drove down to Satterlees [?] & Nearas [?] after tea & for a half hour to Cozzens to see Mrs Begh [?] & They - such a baby - poor distressed little mite [?] - it made me sick to touch him yet the dear Mother said he had improved so.
